Ingredients:
-
1 box of yellow cake mix (you can also use white cake mix if you prefer)
-
1 (8 oz) package of cream cheese (softened)
-
1/2 cup of sugar (for the cheesecake layer)
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
1 (21 oz) can of strawberry pie filling
-
1/4 cup of butter (melted)
-
1 cup of whipped topping (optional for garnish, like Cool Whip)
-
Fresh strawberries (optional for garnish)
Directions:
-
Preheat the oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter. -
Prepare the cheesecake layer:
-
In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and sugar together until smooth. You can use an electric mixer or mix by hand.
-
Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the cream cheese mixture and continue mixing until combined.
-
Spread the cheesecake mixture evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Don’t worry if it’s not perfectly smooth—just spread it as best as you can.
-
-
Add the strawberry pie filling:
-
Open the can of strawberry pie filling and spoon it out over the cheesecake layer. You can spread it evenly, or let it sit in dollops—either way works!
-
-
Add the cake mix:
-
Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the top of the strawberry pie filling and cheesecake layers. Do not mix it, just spread it on top as evenly as you can.
-
-
Add the melted butter:
-
Pour the melted butter over the dry cake mix. Try to cover as much of the cake mix as possible, but it’s okay if some parts are left uncovered.
-
-
Bake the cake:
-
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the cake is golden brown on top, and a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean (but you may have some gooey strawberry filling on the toothpick).
-
-
Let it cool:
-
Once done, remove the dump cake from the oven and let it cool for a bit. It will still be a little gooey, but that’s normal!
-
-
Serve:
-
You can serve it warm or at room temperature. For an extra touch, top it with whipped topping or fresh strawberries for garnish.
-
Notes:
-
Substitutions: You can use any fruit filling you like instead of strawberry (like blueberry or cherry), and you can also use a sugar-free cake mix or filling if you want to reduce the sugar content.
-
Texture: The top will be a little cake-like and golden, while the bottom will have a creamy cheesecake and fruit filling, making it a perfect combination of textures.
-
Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
Enjoy your Strawberry Cheesecake Dump Cake! It’s perfect for family gatherings, potlucks, or just a simple dessert to satisfy your sweet tooth! 😋🍓
