Peanut Butter Cup Dump Cake Recipe
This is an easy, delicious dessert that combines the flavors of chocolate, peanut butter, and cake! A dump cake means you just “dump” all the ingredients into a pan and bake it — no mixing or complicated steps. Here’s how to make a Peanut Butter Cup Dump Cake:
Ingredients:
-
1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix (or chocolate cake mix if you prefer)
-
1 jar (16 oz) creamy peanut butter
-
1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)
-
1 cup peanut butter chips
-
1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
-
1 1/2 cups milk (or you can use heavy cream for a richer texture)
-
8-10 Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, chopped into chunks (or you can use another peanut butter cup brand)
-
1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional for extra flavor)
-
A pinch of salt (optional)
Directions:
1. Prepare Your Oven and Pan:
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
2. Layer the Cake Mix:
-
Pour the yellow cake mix (dry) evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan. Don’t mix it with any other ingredients, just the dry mix goes in.
3. Add Peanut Butter and Milk:
-
In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the peanut butter and milk together in the microwave for about 30-40 seconds or until the peanut butter is soft and slightly melted. Stir it well to combine.
-
Drizzle the peanut butter mixture evenly over the dry cake mix. Do not stir — it will mix while baking.
4. Add the Butter:
-
Pour the melted butter over the peanut butter and cake mix layer. Again, do not mix. The butter will help the cake form a nice crumbly texture as it bakes.
5. Add the Chocolate & Peanut Butter Chips:
-
Sprinkle the chocolate chips and peanut butter chips evenly over the top. This will create a gooey, melty chocolate-peanut butter topping.
6. Add the Peanut Butter Cups:
-
Chop the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups into smaller pieces (you can cut them into quarters or just chop them roughly).
-
Scatter the chopped peanut butter cups evenly across the top of the cake.
7. Bake the Cake:
-
Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the center is bubbling.
-
The edges should be slightly crispy, and the center will look like it’s set but still gooey. It’s okay if it looks a little wobbly in the middle — that’s the gooey, delicious part!
8. Let It Cool (Optional):
-
Allow the cake to cool for a few minutes before serving. It will continue to set as it cools, but it’s still awesome when warm and gooey.
Serving:
-
Serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if desired.
-
You can also drizzle some extra melted peanut butter or chocolate syrup on top for even more indulgence.
