Preheat the oven
Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9-inch pie dish. -
Mix wet ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and glossy. -
Add egg & vanilla
Whisk in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined. -
Add dry ingredients
Sprinkle in the flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir gently just until no dry flour remains.Don’t overmix—this keeps the pie soft and tender.

Stir in 1 cup chocolate chips (and nuts if using). -
Fill the pie dish
Spread the dough evenly into the prepared pie dish. Sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top if you like. -
Bake
Bake for 30–35 minutes, until the edges are golden and the center is set but still soft.-
A toothpick inserted near the edge should come out mostly clean.
